Boobs, Babies & A Movie

Boobs, Babies & A Movie

A group of women were kicked out of a showing of Bad Moms on opening weekend due to breastfeeding and the movie being rated R. I’m not here to judge either side, just to comment on how I was as a young mother.

When I became a mom, I knew I had to give up certain luxuries like long showers, sleeping in, warm food and going to the movies, and I was ok with it. I would never think about taking my nursing baby to a movie (no matter how amazing it is!). I just respect the other patrons who go there and want to enjoy a movie without a crying baby. I would wait until I had a sitter or wait until the movie was on demand. (To be honest… sometimes I would just need a break from my kids for a few hours so I wouldn't want to bring my baby with me.)

When my kids were babies, our local theater had Mommy and Me movies every Monday morning at 11am. No one cared if my baby cried, they had a changing table set up, the volume was lower and the lights were dim. I enjoyed a new movie that was out that weekend while my baby slept or nursed. I would always do my research before going. What are the theater’s policies about babies, ages, kids, showings etc... before I bought my ticket.

I'm not saying the women here were wrong, nor am I saying the theater was wrong. I am simply stating what I did/would do. I can relate to these women, when you’re looking forward to something for a while and to have it all fall apart, yes anyone would be angry. I would just have my mommy friends over along with their babies, open up a Two Buck Chuck and complain about our husbands. Now that's a fun night!
